  • Vaccinees are vital to the public’s health. Vaccines have long been in debate about their effectiveness and risks. Now that COVID-19 is still an issue, many people are hesitant about taking the vaccine that is being made because it was produced too quickly. There are many factors that contribute to the production of the vaccine such as cost/limited supplies. The production and distribution of a vaccine require an immense amount of equipment, staff, and supplies. Due to limited resources, the testing of the vaccine can be prolonged, and the distribution will have to be strategically planned to ensure it is available to everyone. My call to action for you is to go out and donate to research as much as you can, volunteer if you are able, and aid in the road to success of this vaccine. At the peak of the virus, testing was limited and was not as easily accessible as it is now that numbers are going down. The President was urging to stop testing so that numbers would not go up, but that is not a logical approach. As mentioned in “Health Officials Worry Nation is Not Ready for COVID-19 Vaccine” by Liz Szabo, the federal coronavirus funds have been slow to reach public health departments and many health departments are so overwhelmed with the current costs of the pandemic such as testing and contact tracing that they can’t reserve money for the vaccine work to come (2020, p.4). With your help, the necessary equipment and help will be gained in order to produce an effective vaccine. Thank you !
