The COVID-19 research officials are in need of time and money. The negligence of patience and funds for the research of the coronavirus vaccine could cause irreversible mistakes like the Cutter Incident. Allow me to inform you on why the COVID-19 vaccine may be taking so long. The Cutter Incident happened in April of 1955, the `March of Dimes’ was inspired in part by President Franklin D Roosevelt’s personal experience of polio, raised funds for research and focused national attention on the disease. A polio vaccine was then made and administered to more than 200,000 people according to, the Journal of the Royal Society of medicine. People confided in the vaccine that was created for polio, yet they did not anticipate well enough the side effects and the efficacy of this vaccine. Due to the negligence of the side effects in the research, the polio vaccine created contained a live polio virus and was administered to the public causing millions of children to be sick and paralyzed, in iron lungs. Iron lungs were a contraption that the patient would lay down in surrounded by metal, and the machine would breathe for them. This was a travesty that has shaped the production of vaccines, to ensure the overall safety of the public’s health. So let’s be patient to make sure this vaccine is not a repetition of past mistakes.
